Babylon was one of the greatest cities of the ancient world, known for its wealth, power, and influence. It was a centre of civilisation, yet it also became a symbol of pride, idolatry, and rebellion. The Bible warns us about the dangers of following Babylon’s path—seeking worldly success without God leads to destruction. The mighty empire eventually fell, reminding us that only God’s kingdom stands forever.
Jeremiah 51:7 says, “Babylon has been a golden cup in the hand of the Lord, intoxicating all the earth. The nations have drunk of her wine; That is why the nations are going mad” (NASB). Babylon pursued its own greatness but lost sight of God. This serves as a lesson for us—worldly achievements mean nothing if they are not built on God’s foundation.
Instead of chasing temporary success, seek God’s kingdom first. True security comes from living in obedience to Him.
Quote

Lord, help me to seek Your kingdom above all else and not be led astray by the world. Amen.
Action Point
Reflect on where your priorities lie—choose to invest in what lasts, not just what is temporary.
