It is not a phrase that we hear very often hear but is something that we often do without realising it. Whether you volunteer for something or have a cause like picking litter up from the beach, when you do something you believe in you will naturally give of your time, energy and sometimes finance to make that thing work.
There is an interesting phrase in Luke 14:27 ‘And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple’ (NIV). Suggesting that everyone needs to carry some burden, but this burden is more about building the Kingdom than anything else.
The point, we should always be doing something that builds the Kingdom of God. We should serve something and have a bit of sweat equity in it, be invested, and be prepared to see it through all the way to the end. That is the Kingdom of God.
Quote
Sweat equity is our opportunity to invest in God’s Kingdom.
Prayer Father, show me what I can do in your Kingdom, give me the strength to do it for your Glory, Amen.
Action Point If you are not volunteering, start to pray into what you could do within your ability and means to build the Kingdom of God.
