Secrets Can Make You Sick

Carl Brettle

Carrying secrets can feel like carrying a heavy weight, affecting both our minds and bodies. The stress of hiding the truth, whether out of fear, shame, or guilt, can drain our energy and steal our peace. God never intended for us to live burdened by secrecy—He calls us to walk in honesty, openness and freedom, trusting that His grace is greater than any mistake or struggle we try to conceal.

Proverbs 28:13 reminds us, “People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy” (NLT). When we bring things into the light, we allow God’s healing and restoration to take place. Secrets may seem safe, but true peace is found in transparency and truth.

Whenever possible, live with honesty and openness. Trust that God’s mercy is enough, and don’t let fear keep you from the freedom He offers.

Quote

Secrets burden the soul; truth sets it free.
