The period of Lent is a season of reflection, sacrifice, and renewal. It is a time when Christians prepare their hearts for Easter by drawing closer to God through prayer, fasting, and acts of service. It is not about empty tradition but about intentionally making space for God, allowing Him to shape us more into His likeness.
Joel 2:12 says, “Yet even now,” declares the Lord, “Return to Me with all your heart, And with fasting, weeping, and mourning” (NASB). Lent is an opportunity to refocus on Christ, to remove distractions, and to realign our lives with His will. It is a time of surrender, remembering the depth of His sacrifice and responding with devotion.
Rather than just giving something up, consider taking something on—more time in prayer, acts of kindness, or deeper study of Scripture. Let this season be one of transformation and renewed commitment to God.
