Any holiday season can tempt us to overspend in pursuit of the perfect gifts, but true joy comes not from extravagance but from love and connection. Moderation allows us to focus on what truly matters—cherished moments with family and friends. Instead of placing value on expensive presents, consider how your time, presence, and thoughtfulness can be the greatest gifts of all.
Proverbs 21:20 reminds us, “Precious treasure and oil are in a wise man's dwelling, but a foolish man devours it” (ESV). This encourages us to be wise and intentional with our time and resources, recognising that true richness comes from stewardship and meaningful relationships.
By choosing moderation, we honour God by using what He’s given us. Let this holiday season be one of fun, walks, crafting or activities while also showing love, and gratitude and creating new memories that will last far longer than any material gift.
Quote
The greatest gift is your time, given in love.
Prayer
Lord, help me to honour You by giving wisely and valuing what matters most this season. Amen.
Action Point
Plan one meaningful activity to share time with loved ones instead of focusing on material gifts.
