God Is Not Your Puppet

There are situations in life where you want to get a promotion, a new car, a better house, or a car parking space. Sometimes we treat God more like room service for our lives than the creator of the universe.

Isaiah 55:8 says, quoting God, ‘”For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord’ (NIV).

One thing is for sure in our Christian walk, we don’t see the whole picture and as this scripture clearly states. God is operating outside of the life we live and its limits. His thoughts span a universe, His ways are not confined by time. We should consider that the next time we ask God for something we don’t really need, or perhaps selfishly covet. God is not ‘room service’ to provide the desires of our lives. We’ll understand that one day, when we spend eternity with Him.

Quote Let’s stop treating God as simply the provider of all our needs.

Prayer Lord, teach me your ways, that I might understand how big you are and that you still take time to love and rescue me, Amen.

Action Point When was the last time you asked God simply, how can I serve you Lord.
