1 Kings 19:12 says ‘After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper’ (NIV).
Life can be so loud, so full of noise, pressure, and stress. Companies trying to sell us things constantly, it’s as if we are caught in a cycle of who shouts the loudest wins our attention. Fortunately, these are not spiritual problems. We should remember that we are spiritual beings with an earthly body. We cannot spend eternity with God and expect to take this body with us!
When we think about the noise and chaos of this World, remember God does not need to compete with it! Sometimes, He will wait patiently for us, and then whisper to catch our attention. His purposes conveyed through peace and rest, not through noise and stress. Take some time out and listen for the whisper.
Quote Sometimes the most profound word from God is conveyed through a whisper.
Prayer Father, help me catch my breath and make an appointment with you to hear what you want you to say through a whisper.
Action point
It’s hard to find a place of quiet sometimes, but when you do, just say, ‘here I am Lord, would you whisper to me today’.
