A Lightbulb Moment

Carl Brettle

Updated: Jan 25

We’ve all benefitted from the lightbulb invented by Thomas Edison in 1879. Not bad for a man that was told by a teacher in school that he was ‘too stupid for anything’. Eddison was also fired from his first two jobs. It took 10,000 attempts before the Lightbulb actually worked. When called a failure, Eddison’s response was ‘I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work’. He is surely the most famous inventor for simply never giving up!

Galatians 6:9 tells us ‘And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart’.

Whether it be growing your church, running your ministry, reaching out to the people on your street, even if you get fed up, don’t give up, keep trying. Remember the lightbulb of your endeavour will eventually shine brightly if you don’t give up!

Quote

Overnight success is sometimes 10 years in the making.

Prayer

Father, help me to persevere and keep on course and to not give up, Amen

Action Point

There is nothing like practice makes perfect so whatever you would like to do, but haven’t yet mastered it, keep trying, you’ll get it one day.
